Room 414 [Friday Evening]

Jo had been lying low for the past week, giving the influx of newbies a chance to get used to the place before she ventured out. Of course the thing about lying low for newbie week was you missed all the boggling as they realised the kind of place they gotten themselves sent.

Which why was the door was open and she was tossing a ball out into the hallway, for Jet to chase and (hopefully) return.

[For the boy, but open.]

Jet almost barreled into Edmund as he approached the door. He managed to avoid a collision in time, barely, and then poked his head through the doorway. "Are you truly that bored?" 'That bored' being 'as bored as she looked.'

"You do have a telephone, you know. You push the buttons on it in the right order and it connects you to my telephone and even if I'm not there, you can leave a message that I can check later. It's a fantastic invention for making plans."

Edmund tried to catch it, dropped it, then picked it up and tossed it back onto the bed as he walked further in. "If this is a new discovery for you, I feel as though I should be concerned."

"If you're content to be bored alone rather than with company, I can leave and let you do that."

"You make a good point." He looked at Jet, who seemed to still be confused about this ball situation. "Shall I leave you to your game?"

Edmund bent over to pick the ball up and toss it back out into the hallway for Jet. "I'm sure Jet would manage," he said, approaching her.

"Then I'll stay," he decided. "What have you been doing with yourself now that you don't have classes?" He was inquiring as to just how stir crazy she was.

"Should I alert the authorities? You not doing much is bound to lead to an explosion of some sort."

"I met a girl named Ariel who doesn't talk. Can't talk, I think. She knew how to curtsy, but I couldn't get much else out of her through playing charades."

"Blonde girl in a suit, blonde girl in a leather suit who I think wanted to kill the Australian teacher, dreamer boy who sounded English, quiet dark-haired girl who didn't seem too sure about being here, another dark-haired girl who perfected the teenage look from those 1980s movies, dark-haired girl who smiled a lot, a married girl with a pixie hair cut and a boy with a scruffy look about him."

"It seemed a bit out of place for summer," Edmund mused.

Maybe on Wednesday, but not by Friday. "I was more concerned she was going to strangle the teacher using only her mind."

"I am a little," he admitted. "I can see why she thought the teacher was overwhelming. He made me his TA and called me Eddie." He paused. "Don't start calling me Eddie."

"It'll do, I suppose," he said with an air of mock drama. "Then I won't have to resort to calling you Joey." He scrunched up his nose. "No, I don't think I could do that anyway."

"Let's stick to single syllables then," Edmund declared. "Have you eaten yet? We could go out for dinner, if Jet isn't opposed."

"Meet you downstairs in 10 minutes?"
