Jo wasn't too nervous as she got ready to go to Caritas with Chris, and if she was she was putting it all down to the possibility of the zombie band trying to eat their brains.

Jo blinked. "Oh, thanks," she said, beaming at Chris. "These are really pretty. Do you want to come in, while I put them in some water?"

"Sure, if you don't mind," Chris said, taking exactly two steps inside the door and not going any further.

"Not at all," Jo said, thankful that a male roommate at least kept some of the "boy in my room" flailiness away. "You can take a seat if you want."

"Uh, okay," Chris said, making a beeline for one of the desk chairs. He wasn't going anywhere near a bed.

He glanced around the room. "Who's your roommate?"

"Henry," Jo replied, trying to make sure the glass she'd found to put the flowers in wasn't going to fall over. "You met him yet?"

"I don't think so," Chris said. "There's a lot of people here though. And I wasn't expecting co-ed rooms."

"Me neither," Jo replied. "And I definitely doubt Mom was. But he seem nice enough."

"My roommate is nice too. Just don't let her make you coffee," Chris said with a quick grin. "And I don't think I'll be telling my grandpa too much about her."

He stood up. "Ready to go?"

"Oh, definitely in agreement with you there," Jo said.

She cast one final look at the flowers, which seemed steady enough. "Yeah," she grinned. "I am."
